Job description:
- Managing the Bioeconomy and Ecoinnovation Centre (B&EC).
- Managing and/or supervising the activity of the Industrial Biotechnologies Research Group, the Green Technologies Research Group, and the Pro-Environmental Technology Laboratory.
- Extending the list of scientific and R&D achievements of the B&EC.
- Winning and participating in research, development and implementation projects, also as a project manager.
- Planning and supervising own professional development and professional development of direct reports.
- Applying scientific and R&D activity results in practice and winning clients interested in research results and technological solutions developed at the B&EC.
- Networking and cooperating with research organisations in Poland and abroad, also with other units and functions at the Institute, as regards the topics of R&D and implementation projects carried out at the B&EC.
- Actively participating in scientific communities (networking and cooperating with other scientists, reviewing articles, and sitting on expert panels that shape and facilitate scientific development in the field of bioeconomy and ecoinnovation).
- Popularising scientific achievements (through publications or participation in conferences and seminars).
- Seconding employees and sending them on business trips.
- Submitting motions concerning the employment, dismissal, awarding and disciplining direct reports.
- Keeping formal and financial records of projects carried out at the B&EC.
- Granting substantive approval of invoices concerning projects carried out at the B&EC – in keeping with the Organisational Rules and Regulations.

Main requirements:
- At least 5 years of previous experience in the fields of bioeconomy and ecoinnovation including: management of waste and recyclable materials; closure of industrial water circuits; technologies and devices supporting environmentally friendly industrial processes; composite and biodegradable materials; technological fluid and wastewater treatment; and surface functionalisation of filtration and sorption materials.
Candidates must provide evidence confirming their experience and qualifications, which should include the following:
- Authorship and co-authorship of articles published in JCR-ranked journals;
- Authorship and co-authorship of monographs/chapters;
- Attendance at international conferences and symposia as a speaker;
- Completed scientific internships or workshops abroad;
- Revision of articles in journals with an international reach;
- Participation in international projects;
- Management of research projects won through calls of proposals;
- Management of research teams (at least 3-year experience);
- Experience in organisational activities concerning the creation and development of scientific and research teams, as well as familiarity with and knowledge of technological solutions, instruments and methods intended for the analysis of properties of biomaterials; and
- Authorship and co-authorship of patents and patent applications in the field of bioeconomy and ecoinnovation.
- PhD (or higher degree) in bioeconomy/ecoinnovation;
- Membership in expert panels that shape and facilitate scientific development in the field of bioeconomy and ecoinnovation;
- Experience in submitting research project proposals;
- Recognised scientific and research achievements substantiated by awards or distinctions;
- Fluency in Polish and English;
- Practical knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and
- No previous criminal convictions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Performing duties with due diligence and care.
- Complying with the provisions of the Labour Code, occupational health and safety regulations, fire safety regulations, and generally applicable workplace and social coexistence norms and standards.
- Complying with regulations and instructions that are in place and in use at the Łukasiewicz-ITeE, Institute’s Organisational Rules and Regulations, and other in-house acts and ordinances approved by the Director.
- Maintaining the confidential nature of any and all information the disclosure of which could be detrimental to the Institute.
- Exercising due diligence and care when operating the equipment owned by the B&EC or any other devices provided by and constituting the property of the Ł-ITEE.
- Winning orders for scientific and R&D services in the field of bioeconomy and ecoinnovation.
- Managing direct reports.
- Networking and cooperating with research organisations in Poland and abroad.
- Winning national and international research and implementation projects.
- Participating in R&D projects carried out at the Institute.
- Actively participating in scientific, research, and implementation activities carried out at the B&EC.
- Cooperating with other units and functions at the Institute.
- Drafting proposals of research projects to be carried out at the Institute.
- Maintaining all records and making all settlements relating to research projects and required under applicable Institute’s regulations.
- Managing and/or supervising the activity of the Industrial Biotechnologies Research Group, the Green Technologies Research Group, and the Pro-Environmental Technology Laboratory.
- Performing all duties commissioned by the supervisor effectively and in a timely manner.
- Making sure that all devices, instruments, and tools are used in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Continuously developing professional qualifications and extending the list of scientific and R&D achievements.
- Undergoing all medical examinations, as required under applicable Institute’s regulations.
